Water Safety Day
On Saturday 5th July 7 Lakes Country Park welcomed Humberside Fire & Rescue Service for a unique event. Water Safety Day was a fun day for all the family involving several different rescue scenarios on the Clearwater Lake involving the Fire & Rescue Service.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service had in attendance their Rescue Support Unit, Community Support Team and were offering fire safety advice throughout the day as well as pointing out the dangers of swimming in open waters. There was plenty of action throughout the day with a Jet Ski Time Trial being held, organised by World Championship Race Director Jeremy Hoyland and RYA Personal watercraft Instructor Jonathan Oddy. Trophies were up for grabs so competition was fierce!
It all kicked off at 11:00 hrs and it was an open day for everyone to enjoy. Side shows and local business stands were present. The bar was open from 11:00 hrs serving food. A Hog Roast was available from 15:00 hrs. In the evening there was the Jet Ski Prize Presentation and a Disco. This is going to be an annual event and the date is already set for 2009 - Saturday 11th July - a date for your diary!
